UK Editions is a fast-growing and quite inspiring archive of social history photographs from the United Kingdom.

Our aim is to continue rescuing, collecting, collating, preserving and make available these wholly-owned and very important historical moments in time of ordinary life from the mid 1800s to the 1970s.

We are therefore, wherever possible, publishing the original item from the negative, slide or print, glass plate or celluloid, tine type or daguerrotype, in all it's glory alongside, where possible, a restored version to help us all appreciate the age and journey of the photograph. Some images will have very light restoration, some will show dramatic signs of age, but all will be very real and captivating representations that illustrate exceptional early photographic talent, some of which is over 100 years old.

Most of our captivating images will never have been seen by a wider audience before and we hope that you enjoy your visit to this wonderful emerging historical pictorial resource.

Please remember that some photographic equipment and techniques were quite imperfect in the earlier years and this is reflected in some of the images in our library. We also have many images taken by people just recording family or things around them. It is these informal and often candid images that bring about a feel of the time and help to build an overall picture of the UK's history.

All of our images are available for licensing, print and commercial products at very reasonable prices via our on-site shop.

Whether you are a Picture Researcher for an educational book, a Features Editor from a website, magazine or newspaper, a fashion designer or a wardrobe consultant looking for an artistic reference, we have plenty for you to review and it's really easy to purchase licences and products direct from this site.
